Myoptics started in the eastern suburb of Germiston, Johannesburg South Africa in 1987 from a back office of a family Optometrist practice.
Originally the focus for Myoptics was only on the import and distribution of Eastern Generic frames all falling under the MYOPTICS brand name.
Sales were generated directly from stock carried in the boot of the owner’s cars. Things developed quickly and soon the house brands of Capri, Coco and Vertigo and others were born and these eventually formed the base of the Myoptics stable.
Growth was inevitable, so recognized European and American brands were then added to the mix. Some have since fell away but UMBRO, Sponge Bob, Tony Morgan and Columbia Eyewear still remain.
Still, under the original owners, Myoptics has evolved again. Under the pressure of an ever-changing competitive Market, Myoptics launched MYOPTICS DIRECT in 2014.
The products are supported by Catalogues and online web ordering facilities putting easy access, variety and time-saving at the hands of the Optometrist.
